Our Addiction Recovery Coaching in Healthcare and Emergency Settings Team (ARCHES)

USARA’s ARCHES team helps bridge the gap between acute healthcare settings and community interventions. We help patients follow up with providers in the days, weeks, and months following hospitalization assuring that they don’t need to return to the emergency room. We stay in touch with people to make sure their needs are being met and whatever barriers they might face are overcome successfully.

Benefits of Peer Support:

  • Reduced Stigma: Peer recovery coaches can help reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorders, creating a more supportive environment for patients.
  • Increased Engagement: Patients may be more likely to engage in treatment when they feel understood and supported by someone who has walked a similar path.
  • Improved Outcomes: Studies suggest that peer support can lead to improved recovery outcomes, including reduced relapse rates and increased quality of life.
  • Reduced Burden on ED Staff: Peer recovery coaches can alleviate some of the burden on emergency department staff, allowing them to focus on other medical needs.

Meting people where they’re at

We meet individuals in hospitals, emergency rooms, and detox centers – wherever they might be in substance use related crisis – to help connect them with the next stage of their care.
